About The Coffee College

A Message from the Interims President

Started in 2017, a period of intense planning and preparation is coming to an end. We're in the process of launching this unique University Program, THE COFFEE COLLEGE. Why Ethiopia? Well, it's the Motherland of Coffee and the most obvious place to learn about the bean and the culture.

The motivation for this Coffee College is the rebalancing of the global coffee industry. With this institution, we have the opportunity to readjust the value added chain and lift it to fair levels. We've learned from past economic systems and understand that all involved parties have to have an equal voice. This led us to a unique organisational structure whereas the Administrative Headquarter is based in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and the Scientific & Research Headquarter is based in Munich (Germany). This step guarantees highest educational standards and combines it with domestic industry knowledge.

The Coffee College is an Open University and longterm funding commitments from Nations hosting the Coffee College, i.e. Republic of Austria, the Federal Republic of Germany, Ethiopia, the UAE, Canada and Malaysia is required. Education has to be free of monetary labels and we need students with the best brains and not with the deepest pockets.

Students from all over the world will have the opportunity to join through a distance learning system and enroll at our partner universities, participate in courses and take exams on spot. We've learned that in times of crisis such as the COVID-19 Pandemic direct access to studies and eduction is vital. All students that advance in their curriculum will attend analytical and research based programs in Austria and Germany for a 6-month period. The complete curriculum for the Bachelors Program, the Master's Degree and Speciality courses will be published as soon as possible.

We complete the setup this year and launch the Coffee College in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) in 2023.

I want to thank all parties that have been working on this project so hard and for the opportunity to serve as the Coffee College's Interims President, which is a fulfilling and exciting task.
